The device used to clean the coarse dirt and scale on the upper surfaces of the slabs to be driven into the slab furnaces could not serve slabs of all thicknesses. Since the debris on the slabs can cause problems that will affect the final product quality, a system design that can be used to clean slabs of all thicknesses is required. By using rails and wheels in the design, the upper surfaces of slabs of different thicknesses were cleaned only by gravity (without an extra drive system). The equipment is used in the facility, and a similar one has been built in the other furnace. Quality problems caused by scale and dirt on the input slab are prevented. It provides ease of operation and maintenance. Within the scope of the study, it is anticipated that there will be approximately 48 man hours of labor per year. Work within the scope of engineering, design and technical drawing took 6 months and was completed in 2018.
Objective | It was not possible to brush all the production because of fixed hight. Unbrushed slabs were causing quality problems |
Solution | New design has angled rails and wheels which is using only the gravity force for different thicknesses. The quality problems caused by unbrushed slabs were solved. Easy maintenance and short changing time. |
Tailored Approach | Simple rails and wheels mechanism which is using only the gravity force for different thicknesses.. New desing doesn’t need any table modification |
